Buyers
A buyer's agent who knows the neighborhoods you're eyeing, spots overpriced listings and fights for you in multiple-offer situations.
Find my agent →Corktown is Detroit's oldest surviving neighborhood, a grid of narrow 19th-century cottages and row houses along Michigan Avenue just west of downtown, with Michigan Central Station rising over Roosevelt Park. Newer infill townhomes and condos sit beside homes more than a century old. A partner agent who knows Corktown can help you compare restored, original and new construction block by block.
Pick one to get started. It only takes a minute.

Local know-how
Corktown is both a City of Detroit local historic district and a National Register district. Exterior changes, including windows, siding, fences and additions, need Historic District Commission approval first.
Many Corktown homes date to the 1800s. Inspect foundations, sewer lines, electrical and framing carefully, and expect a lead-based paint disclosure on any home built before 1978.
New townhomes and restored cottages can sit on the same street at very different prices. Comparable sales of similar age and condition are the best guide.
