Buyers
A buyer's agent who knows the neighborhoods you're eyeing, spots overpriced listings and fights for you in multiple-offer situations.
Find my agent →Lake Linden is a village at the north end of Torch Lake, once home to a large Calumet and Hecla stamp mill that closed in 1968. It lies mostly in Schoolcraft Township, with Hubbell and other former mill communities close by. The Lake Linden-Hubbell district serves the area. A partner agent who works the Keweenaw can help you understand the shoreline's history and the older homes nearby.
Pick one to get started. It only takes a minute.
Local know-how
Torch Lake has been on the federal Superfund list because of copper mill waste, and stamp sand areas along the shore were capped with soil. Ask about a parcel's history and contact EGLE's Upper Peninsula office with questions.
Many homes in Lake Linden and Hubbell date to the mill years. Inspect foundations, wiring and heating, and expect a lead paint disclosure on pre-1978 homes.
The village sits mostly in Schoolcraft Township, with a small part in Torch Lake Township. Confirm which applies to a property, since services and taxes follow it.
